Thomas Edward Tison, 93, died Friday, September 20, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1919 in Red Rock, GA to the late Henry G. and Ella Johnson Tison. He attended Lee County Schools and was a United States Army Veteran. When he entered the Army in March of 1943 he served in the European Theater of General Patton's Army; received three battle stars: 2 in France and 1 in the Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes. Prior to his service in the Army he was a brakeman and flagman with Seaboard Railroad in Americus. After his discharge from the military in 1946, he returned to Seaboard Railroad where he retired in 1979 as a conductor.

He was a member for over 65 years of Bull Street Baptist Church, and the Hisher Sunday School Class. Ed and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the world; three times in England, the Holy Land twice, and also Germany and Switzerland. They also spent time traveling in the U.S., in Gatlinburg, Asheville, Maggie Valley, Tybee Island, and on several Alaska Cruises.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ernestine Mock Tison, who he met while making runs from Americus to Savannah with Seaboard; and two brothers, Henry G. Tison, Jr. and Louie Johnson Tison of Americus.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews in Savannah and Americus, GA, to include, Sandra Mock, Bubba and Beverly Mock, Donna T. Potts, Patsy T. Bowen and Sue Brown of Florida and Barry and Carlette Mock of Columbia, SC and many other great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Bull Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
